Is Garlic a vegetable?

Here are the categories of Root Vegetables:

Bulb – a plant that grows underground. E.g. – onions and of course garlic.

Corm – stems in which grow underground vertically. E.g. – taro.

Rhizome – stems in which grow underground horizontally. E.g – ginger and turmeric.

Tuber – an underground stem that grows in thickness instead of length.

So is Garlic a vegetable?  It is a root vegetable! Garlic is closely related to the Onion, Shallot, Leek, and Chive. Known to Ancient Egyptians, Garlic has been used in traditional medicine. Garlic is easy to grow and can be grown in mild climates all year around. The cloves are individually planted in autumn six weeks before the soil freezes and are harvested in the late spring or early summer. There are different varieties and subspecies of Garlic, with the most notable being hardback Garlic and soft neck Garlic which we eat today.

Being a fundamental component in worldwide cuisine, Garlic is used in oils, sauces, and even vinegar. The health benefits of Garlic include fighting the cold and flu, preventing heart disease and cancer, among other inflictions. Vitamins found in Garlic are Manganese, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, and Selenium.the
